Acorn Centre: London

The Acorn Centre comprised two munitions factories dating from World War I. We worked with the client to modernise them and make them suitable for commercial use.

Improving access was a key element of the project and this was achieved by partially demolishing the larger building, thereby widening the space between them.

The two units were then clad in skin of decorative brickwork, which also served to improve the thermal insulation of the buildings.

External lighting and landscaping further improved their appearance and was part of the planning gain required by the local authority.
